A Green Oak Township-based automotive supplier will build a new headquarters in downtown Brighton, through a purchase agreement between the company and the City of Brighton Downtown Development Authority.
Excelda Manufacturing has purchased property owned by the Brighton DDA to construct the headquarters, expected to be completed in mid to late 2012. The new building will house up to 50 Excelda employees.
Established in 1930 in southeast Michigan, Excelda considered multiple creative solutions in Brighton and surrounding communities for expansion.
“We’re excited about the opportunity this brings for Excelda and our associates. We’ve explored many expansion possibilities in the last few months and being part of a downtown community scores high for us,” Excelda Vice President of Communications Gerri Barr said. “ The ability to design and build for our ongoing needs, while creating an attractive site in Brighton and supporting downtown business, creates a win for all.”
Local Brighton businessman Tim Corrigan said the new building is a good example of the positive direction the city is taking.
“I cannot think of a better corporate citizen to join our downtown – Excelda will bring a new dynamic to the city that should give our local merchants much to build upon,” Corrigan said.
Excelda is a full-service chemical manufacturing, distribution, compliance and logistics company. It provides the advantage of a multi-option menu, including chemical formulation, blending, regulatory compliance, marketing interface and supply chain management.
