Michigan Hits Back-to-Back Homers!

The Detroit Tigers aren’t the only ones knockin’ the ball around…

Last Friday Michigan hit back-to-back homers as two companies, GM and GE, announced they had chosen Michigan over other states and countries to make significant investments and create and retain thousands of jobs here.

GM will manufacture a new small-car line at its Orion Township plant instead of at competing facilities in Wisconsin and Tennessee. The announcement will restore approximately 1,400 jobs in total — 1,200 at Orion Assembly and 200 at Pontiac Metal Center.

As if the GM news wasn’t big enough, GE announced Friday that it is locating a new advanced technology and training center at Visteon Village in Van Buren Township over competing sites in New York, South Carolina and Ohio. The center is expected to create 1,200 direct high-tech jobs including scientists, engineers and technologists and more than 1,600 indirect and spin-off jobs.

This news is reverberating across the nation!

We in Michigan got a ways to go but things are starting to look up, and we are committed to keeping the momentum going.
